Kanji Cruncher: Grade 1, Lesson 9

Happy Monday, friends! Mondays can be rough, but here's a fun kanji lesson to brighten the start of your work or school week. And look, we've got a brand-new drawing of Kitty here to cheer you on!

Today's Kanji:
下 正 気 小

行きましょう!
Click the link below to view the lesson!

Meaning: below, down
Look out below, its a falling cactus!

Meaning: correct
Unless you're writing after the letter "C," "I" before "E" is correct. See the letters I and E hidden in this kanji?

     Radicals:
     止 stop
     一 one

Meaning: spirit
This kanji is easy for me to remember, because in the Bible, the word for "spirit" comes from the Hebrew word for "breath," and the radical for "breath" is the main radical in this kanji. Pretty cool connection, huh?

     Radical:
     气 breath

Meaning: small
This might be a little vague if you're not a gamer, but this one looks like that ultra-rare alien ship in Galaga that only flies down once every few levels if you've racked up enough points. It's a pretty small one compared to the other ships.

"That kanji is playing Galaga. Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did."

What kind of story can you come up with for ?

Meaning: seven
I wrote the number 7 but I accidentally wrote it upside down so I had to cross it out... oops.

     Radical:
     一 one

Great job today! How are your studies going? Are these kanji lessons helping you along? Let me know in the comments!
